A SMILE CAN TRAVEL MILES

It is an amazing fact that a simple smile can change the course of a person's day then travel on to the next unexpecting stranger to once again accomplish a miraculous change in outlook.... how many smiles can we send across the country today???

Befuddled Brain & a Chicken Comes to Visit

I'm sure everyone has had one of those days when nothing seems to be quite right.... nothing seems out of place until you stand back and take a good look.  Today is one of those days for me. I had begun knitting what is called "The Burberry Inspired Cowl" by Julianne Smith - a yummy little bit of wool that I have worked up the gumption to knit. To do so would require me to learn two new skills....provisional cast on and the dreaded Kitchener stitch bind off! Both not difficult in the least - but it would require my brain to be steady for at least half an hour to get the full grip of it.  The provisional cast on was simple enough....got my pattern started.....nearly finished! Oops! I have one pattern repeat left to go and I have run out of yarn! ARRRGGGHHH!  Off to the store to pick up a skein. OMG!!!! Not one skein to be found.....will have to order and so close to being finished!!!  So, I'll try again...I search my stash of yarn to find anything with enough yardage to get me through to the end.....heathered blue - good! My needles are a bit big, but no matter - should still work out nicely.  Knitting most of the day and finally I'm to the part of casting off......now for the dreaded Kitchener stitch....very intently I watched the youtube video on "how to" - stitch by stitch I bind off the knitting....my brow is knit (a pun!!) and moisture is beading.....two more stitches....tada!!! Finished.....DOH! (slapping myself on the forehead) I've put the "seamless" part on the wrong side!!!! It looked beautiful but alas, not so much on the side that shows....well - I turn it inside out and voila! A new creation by me :)  At least I know how to do it right when the skein of yarn comes in to finish my favorite piece.

I'm not the only befuddled brain in the crowd......the dog puzzle has been on the table for most of the week - a task of simple doing...but it's still there......scattered pieces here and there - a valiant effort is being put forth but I'm thinking some additional brain power is going to be required on this one!

I'm not usually taken by surprise when it comes to visitors but tonight is something quite odd.....a chicken came calling!!! What chicken you ask? Well, Mocha, of course!!!! She had been to the Vet for some difficulty with her feet - and discovered that she needed more vitamins etc.  She showed me how much she enjoyed fresh blueberries (yum!!!) She pecked so quickly and thoroughly that I really couldn't tell if the blueberry was there at all! Very amazing......hopefully she doesn't turn a brownish shade of blue!!!

I said my farewells to Mocha the chicken and decided I had had enough of a day.  Time for my tea and pjs!
